Rules
- All Fighters Will weigh in the day before the bout
- All fighters will weigh in at a time and place designated by the promoter
Gloves
- Only Standard 4oz MMA fight gloves can be worn.
- Gloves will be provided, you can wear your own providing they fall within the criteria above
- All gloves will be checked pre fight by an official.
Hand Wrapping
- Hand wrapping is allowed using crepe/gauaze bandages and tape only. [ zinc oxide, surgical, elastoplast etc ]
- No Canvas Handwraps will be permitted
- Tape can be administered to the back of the hand across the metacarpals and between the knuckles but NOT over the knuckles.
- Wraps will be checked.
Bout Duration
- All standard bouts to be contested over 3 x 5 minute rounds with one minute interval
- All title bouts to be contested over 5 x 5 minute rounds with one minute interval
- 2 corner men per fighter, except a title bout where 3 will be permitted.
Legal Techniques
- All punches, knees, elbows and kicks to a standing opponent.
All Punches and Elbows to the Head on a grounded opponent.
- All Punches, knees, elbows and kicks to the body of a grounded opponent
- All take downs.
- All submissions.
Illegal Techniques
- All elbows thrown in the vertical plane (ie. From Ceiling to the floor, 12 to 6)
- Kicks or knees to the head on a grounded opponent.
Fouls
- Butting with the head.
- Eye gouging of any kind.
- Biting.
- Hair pulling.
- Fish-hooking.
- Groin attacks of any kind.
- Putting a finger into any orifice or into any cut or laceration of an opponent
- Small joint manipulation. Control of a minimum of 4 digits is required.
- Striking to the spine or the back of the head.
- Striking with the elbow thrown.
- Striking with an open hand.
- Throat strikes of any kind, including, without limitation, grabbing the trachea.
- Clawing, pinching or twisting the flesh.
- Grabbing the clavicle.
- Kicking the head of a grounded opponent.
- Kneeing the head of a grounded opponent.
- Stomping a downed opponent.
- Kicking to the kidney with the heel.
- Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.
- Throwing an opponent out of the ring.
- Holding the shorts or gloves of an opponent.
- Spitting at an opponent.
- Engaging in any un-sportsman like conduct.
- Holding the ropes.
- Using abusive language in the ring.
- Attacking an opponent on or during the break.
- Attacking an opponent who is under the care of the referee.
- Attacking an opponent after the bell has sounded the end of the period of combat.
- Flagrantly disregarding the instructions of the referee.
- Timidity, including, without limitation, avoiding contact with an opponent.
- Intentionally or consistently dropping the mouthpiece or faking an injury.
- Interference by the corner men or coaches.
Scoring Criteria
- The bouts will be scored using a 10 point system.
- Each round of a contest is scored individually by the announced judges and if no submission or KO occurs, these are totalled up and a decision announced.
- The winner of a round will be awarded 10 points, and the loser 9 points or less.
Criteria that the judges will be assessing, in order of priority, are as follows
- Effective Aggression: This is determined as the fighter showing most effort to win. It is of no use to simply be aggressive. The fighter’s effort must be an effective effort.
- Effective Technique:This area includes Striking, Clinch Work, Take-downs, Submission attempts, Transitioning, Positioning and defensive techniques.
Professional B-Class Rules
B Class Rules are identical the A Class Rules with the following exception:
- Athletes are not allowed to utilise elbow strikes in any situation.
Semi-Professional, C-Class Rules
C Class Rules are as B Class Rules with the following amendments:
- There is No striking to the head of a grounded opponent (when opponent has more than the soles of their feet in contact with the ground).
- The bout duration is 3 x 4minutes.
Weight Categories
- Bantamweight under 135 lbs. 61.2kg
- Featherweight under 145 lbs. 65.8kg
- Lightweight under 155 lbs. 70.kg
- Welterweight under 170 lbs. 77.kg
- Middleweight under 185 lbs. 84 kg
- Light Heavyweight under 205 lbs. 93.kg
- Heavyweight under 265 lbs. 120kg
All fighters will be given a 1lb (0.4kg) for scale calibration, except for title bouts where they must make the exact weight limit.
